🧐Historical zoom on the Dordogne with the Château de la Malartrie, in La Roque Gageac . 🤩
➡️ In the Middle Ages, the Dordogne supported fishermen and gabariers in the village port.
➡️ In January 1957, a section of the cliff fell on part of the village. The damage was extensive: houses were destroyed and 3 people were killed.
➡️ In January 2010, a section of the ceiling of the troglodyte fort collapsed. The Fort de La Roque Gageac was reopened in 2020.
➡️ In June 2010, a large boulder weighing several hundred tons threatened to fall on the village. The main road was closed for several weeks. Protective nets are installed to secure the area.
➡️ At the end of 2013, the road through the village was closed for 5 months, to create the safe pedestrian walkways that today allow you to visit the village in complete safety. 😉
From your canoe, you can admire the village and even visit it 👍
